Subiaco—the Hermitage
Our log cabin hermitage, in a secluded, wooded area of the Mount grounds, is available for persons seeking solitude, healing of spirit and silence in the presence of God. We have named our hermitage “Subiaco” in remembrance of the three years that our patron Saint Benedict lived as a hermit in a cave at Subiaco, renouncing the distractions and pleasures of life in the city of Rome, and seeking God in prayer and contemplation.
SUBIACO is provided with water, electricity and heat, and is, therefore, open year-round for individuals who want to come. A supply of bread, fruit, etc., is available if desired.
Hermits are asked to bring a cell phone for use in case of emergency. $45 is the charge for a day/night residence, and less for any additional days. Call Sister Lorraine Kraft (218-281-3441)or e-mail for more information.
